I'm sure most of us suffer from frizzy hair in warm, humid weather. The key to controlling frizz is the products you use in your hair. That includes your shampoo and conditioner. You want to use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. My favorite shampoos for frizz - Sojurn Smoothing and Goldwell Real Moisture Shampoo. Both have a low ph and are sulfate free. My favorite conditioners - Sojurn Smoothing, Goldwell Real Moisture Conditioner and Oribe Signature masque. Now for your styling products: I love Oribe's Supershine Moisturizing Cream, Goldwell Kerasilk Rich Care Anti-Frizz Serum, and Moroccan oil. I hope you have a smooth summer.

A better hair towel?
I've been hearing a lot about microfiber towels that are supposed to be better for your hair. I was intrigued so of course I had to do my research. It turns out they help your hair dry faster and also reduces frizz. It's not a miracle product but after reading more about it and read the reviews, I recommend it. Here is a link to Aquis Microfiber Hair Turban on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Aquis-Microfiber-Turban-Patented-Design/dp/B000FFD3G8/ref=pd_sim_bt_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=1W9KHMZ8JWDANDQFV36M.

Cleaning your makeup brushes
Makeup brush cleaners can be expensive so here is a formula for a very cheap way to clean them. Simply mix baby wash or dish soap with white vinegar. Swirl your brush in the solution , rinse with warm water and then let dry. Voila, your brush are clean for only a few cents.

Weekend of beauty
This was a busy weekend of formal hairstyling and makeup. First, my niece Alyssa's hair and makeup for her first holy communion. She is so beautiful.
Then I was off to a wedding trial for an August. She was so excited she gave me a high five. Her photo's won't be shown until after her wedding.
Last was my niece Peyton's Irish dance recital. She is so funny and LOVES makeup!!
In 2 weeks I will beautify my oldest niece and her friends for their senior prom. Can't wait!

Going Red
Have you always wanted to go red but not sure you can pull it off? Maybe you're worried about how quickly it can fade?
Most women can pull off some shade of red. There are cool toned reds and warm toned reds. Ask your stylist what tone best suits you. Reds can also be intense or more subtle. You can always start with a subtle red and gain intensity as you get more comfortable with it.
Reds can easily fade no matter what you do but there are many ways to prevent your red from fading quickly.
- Get your hair professionally colored.
- Avoid washing your hair for 2-3 days if possible
- Use sulfate free, low ph shampoos. Most store brand shampoos will have a higher ph and also use cheap harsh cleansers, even the ones advertised as "sulfate free" and/or "color safe". Your salon will likely have shampoos that will be better for your color. If you're not sure of the ph of the shampoo, call the 800 number on the back of the bottle. You want the ph to be between 4.5 and 5.5. If they're "unsure", then likely the ph is too high. They should all know what the ph is. If you're spending a lot of money on your color, why save money on shampoo that will fade your color and will require you to have your hair colored more often.
- Wash with cool water.
- Wear a hat while in the sun and/or use a hair product with a UVA and UVB protection.
Expect your red to take 3 applications to hold well.
Here are reds I love....

New Ombre
Now that you've perfected your ombré or even just feeling daring enough to go for the look, it's on it's way out. To update your ombré, tone down the ends a level and add a few highlights around your face. Here are a few looks that demonstrate the current ombré.
